Previously, every event that was found by Food-Bot needed to be approved by me as indeed being a free food event before it was made visible on the site. One of the problems with this is that there was always a latency between when the event was first discovered by Food-Bot and when I found out about it and was able to approve it.
I decided to create the user-approval of Food-Bot events feature to solve this problem. Now events found by Food-Bot will be instantly added to the site, but will be colored red meaning they are "Awaiting human approval." As soon as a human--any human, not just me--takes a look at the event and confirms that it is indeed a free food event, and fixes any mistakes made by Food-Bot, the event is changed to green so everyone knows it has been verified by a human. This way the calendar still maintains its quality (users know that green events have been verified), and users no longer have to wait on me to approve events to find out about them!
This puts the site into the hands of the free food community. My hope is that users will use this feature to help maintain this free food-finding tool and make it a better resource for everyone looking to find free food on campus!
